BSC Hope For Haiti
Monday, February 01, 2010
On Friday 22nd January 2010, the British School of Chicago held a ‘free-dress’ day to collect donations for Haiti. Throughout the week leading up to the event, children learned about what had happened in Haiti and how they could make a small difference by bringing in $2.
Our students overwhelmingly supported the cause by emptying their piggy banks and taking money out of their bank accounts. Many envelopes containing donations had messages written on them including "To Haiti love from Olivia."
Parents also supported the cause and we received many comments including:
"Just a quick note to thank the British School for teaching the children about the recent Haitian Earthquake and how devastating it is to their economy and how it affects others. I am proud to be part of a World Class School teaching world class events and actually making a small difference."
The final total collected by our school was $8,767. This money will be sent directly to UNICEF who has guaranteed that 100% of all donations will go straight to help the children of Haiti.
Thank you to all who helped make this day such a great success!
