Cross-Curricular Topics
The subjects studied in the National Curriculum (England) are planned separately but are often combined when studying appropriate topics.
As an example, when studying the topic of the Victorians (Year 5), other areas of the curriculum could be incorporated such as:
- History (Victorian era)
- Art (the Pre-Raphaelite movement and related art activities)
- Geography (the development of the railway system and the impact on man on the environment)
- Design Technology (zoetropes)
- Extended Writing (in the style of Charles Dickens) and so on.
The development of cross-curricular topics is at the discretion of the teacher.
