BSB GCSE Modern Foreign Languages
Exam Board: EDEXCEL
GCSE Modern Foreign Languages reward practical communication skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing. All four skills attract 25% of the marks. Language work in Years 10 and 11 builds on skills and knowledge already acquired in Years 7-9.
Edexcel GCSE allows students to choose one of the assessed speaking topics and there is also a choice of questions in the writing paper. Students will make these choices in consultation with their teachers.
Assessment:
-
Coursework is used to assess the writing area of the subject. It carries 25% of the marks.
There will be one examination in each of the three remaining skill areas, including a speaking test which is carried out by the language teacher. Marks are awarded positively and are allocated mostly for “communication” in the target language. Some answers are provided in English in the Listening and Reading papers.
