Key Stage 5 - Uniform Requirements

The British School of Houston recognizes that Key Stage 5 students will want a dress code which reflects their level of maturity and their position in the school.
In their position as senior students of the school we expect smart dress, in clothes that are akin to business attire. Personal appearance should be clean and tidy, modest and appropriate for an environment whose primary purpose is study.

The dress code is as follows:

Boys

Smart trousers (chino style) - no combat styles or jean-styles
A tie must be worn between October half term and Easter. A tie is required at other times if students are involved in formal school occasions
Smart shoes - no trainers or flip-flops

Girls
Smart shirt, long or short sleeved, tucked in if loose fitting
Smart trousers or skirt of appropriate length
Smart shoes - no trainers or flip-flops. Shoes must not have a heel height of more than 4cm

Boys and Girls
For all students, the dress code does not include denim, sportswear, combat wear, or facial piercings other than discreet earrings. Makeup is only permitted for girls. Any makeup worn should be modest and appropriate.

General guidelines

  • Polo shirts, sweaters and fleeces must be monogrammed otherwise they will not be considered school uniform.

  • ALL UNIFORM SHOULD BE CLEARLY NAMED, ESPECIALLY HATS
  • School skirts must be no more than 6cms above the knee
  • Solid, sensible shoes ( not trainers) should be worn and must not have a heel of more than 4cm.
  • Long hair should be tied back.
