Middle School Homework Policy


YEAR 3  

  1. Daily Reading  - (15 to 20 minutes). 
  2. Weekly spelling and tables given on Tuesday for Thursday (Friday tables). 
  3. Two pieces of formal homework Topic / Maths / English set on Thursday - returned on Monday (30 minutes to 45 minutes). 
  4. Holiday Reading  - 1 book of the child’s choice and reading record.  

YEAR 4   

  1. Daily Reading  - (15 to 20 minutes). 
  2. Weekly spelling and tables given on Tuesday for Thursday (Friday tables). 
  3. Two pieces of formal homework Topic / Maths / English set on Thursday - returned on Monday (1 hour). 
  4. Holiday Reading  - 2 books of the child’s choice and reading record.     

 

YEAR 5  

  1. Daily Reading (20 to 30 minutes). 
  2. Weekly spelling given on Monday - returned on the following Monday. 
  3. Maths : 1 hour maximum of Maths, related to work taking place in the class during that week.  Set on Wednesday - returned the following Monday. 
  4. Written / Research work: 1hour maximum written work, relating either to the topic or an English activity or writing up of Science work. Set on Tuesday - returned on the following Monday. 
  5. Holiday work: research, practical activity or investigative work plus 2 - 3 books of the child’s choice.
