DC Geographic Bee Hat Trick
Congratulations go to Ben Geyer, our School Geography Bee champion, who has qualified for the third successive year to be in the National Geographic Bee final - here in Washington DC in May. Very recently in the Eagle newsletter Kelvin Williams, Deputy Head of the Secondary School and the school Bee organiser, wished Ben all the best for the 'state' level final on 30th March, and having been the DC champion for the past two years that he hoped that this would be third time lucky for Ben as regards the national championship in May. Ben joked then that Mr. Williams should make him an honorary Welshman, as there is an old saying that states that if you are Welsh you are allowed three attempts at everything!
It was a very close match between the two finalist in the last round in the Washington DC qualifier. Ben in the preliminary round scored a straight run of 8 correct answers, an extraordinary feat - and one that he will hopefully repeat in the May competition. We wish Ben all the best with his preparations for the National Geographic Bee National championship.
