Toy Drive By BSW
TOY DRIVE BY THE BRITISH SCHOOL OF WASHINGTON
By the end of this school year, our students and staff will find themselves in a new school building and neighborhood. Beginning at Christmastime, the whole school will be relocating to a new building in Georgetown, located at 2001 Wisconsin Avenue. This will be a welcome improvement from our current location in Mount Pleasant, for our two sites on 16th St. will be able to share one larger building.
We are a small international private school with students from about 50 different countries around the world. Our school is unique in the Washington area, as we follow the British curriculum. However, before we move, we would like to get to know and get involve with our new neighborhood by holding a toy drive.
Led by our 11th graders on October 13th, the toy drive's proceeds will all be donated to charity. The students have organized the entire event themselves, including designing flyers, creating posters, rallying student/parent support, and locating charities. We welcome any toy, as long as it is in good condition. The students will be collecting toys at Jellef, the ‘Boys and Girls Club,' on 3265 S. Street, NW Washington D.C. 20007 from 10 - 12 am on October 13th.
Furthermore, our 12th graders are leading their own charity drive between Wisconsin and M Street from 10-12 am. They will be holding a scavenger hunt with various pupils from our school, each sporting a white shirt with "The British are coming to Georgetown", whilst the back shows what country each student is from. Each student will also be carrying a donation box and those who donate will receive a British school souvenir as a token of our appreciation. Those who participate in the scavenger hunt will receive a scavenger hunt map, which contains locations as to where students are in Georgetown. The participants who locate the most students will receive a grand prize of 50 dollars at the end.
We are looking forward to our charity endeavors as a stepping-stone to becoming a part of the Georgetown community.
