Performance and debating competition win
On Monday evening, Mrs. Oakes, Mrs. Duncan and Mrs. Jones took four year 9 students to the HISD Performance and Debating competition for Middle and Elementary schools.
The competition consisted of individual monologue performances, group monologues and two person debate teams.
After watching over 120 performers take the stage the results were announced and we were once again delighted with the British School of Houston students. Not only did they stand up on the stage and give the performance of their lives, they looked smart, behaved impeccably and were a credit to themselves, their parents and the school.
The Performers were coached by Yvonne Oakes to a very high standard as was shown in the following results.
Group Performance - Luke M and Drew J - 2nd place
Individual Performance -
Drew J - 1st place
Nicky H - 2nd place
Emmeline R- 4th place
The debate team was expertly coached by Maggie Duncan and debated the issue of "Homeless people". They had 2 rounds on each side of the debate and when the results were announced, we again won first prize.
Debate Team - Nicky H and Drew J - 1st place
This was the first time we have entered any of these competitions with amazing results, so congratulations to all students and a special thanks to Mrs. Oakes and Mrs. Duncan for their coaching and Mrs. Jones for the Pizza!
