Winston Churchill's Great Grandson visits school
On Friday, 25th April, school was very privileged to have a visit from Jonathan Sandys, the great grandson of Winston Churchill.
Jonathan spent time with Year 3, talking about the war and asking the class questions. They were very knowledgable for such a young age! He was impressed with Year 5 music, as they played their recorders and sang to him. Year 6 also listened to him talking about his great grandfather.
After break, Jonathan talked at length to Years 11, 12 and 13. He made a very moving speech about his grandfather and the war which was both informative and interesting. Jonathan is a fabulous speaker and he has promised to return and speak with more students in May.
Before leaving he was presented with a thank you card from the children and a book of Texas. He commented that he was already looking forward to his return visit, which will coincide with the launch of Mrs Andrea White's novel ‘Window Boy' based on World War 2 and Winston Churchill. The Primary Choir is singing at the launch of her book on 15th May at the Museum of Natural Science.
