Design & Technology (Winterized!)
Year 8 bravely tackled the challenge of 'tool-time' to construct a wonderful Adirondack chair that will be enjoyed by the students when on outside breaks. They used an array of power tools to cut and prepare the wood for assembly, routing the edges and counter-sinking the pilot holes. After extensive research into various paint effects (and a unanimous vote against my proposal of a classic mahogony wood stain) they inevitably decided upon a vibrant mix of house colours. A clear varnish was applied to add a touch of, and I quote, ‘bling!' The students thoroughly enjoyed their first major construction project and are looking forward to making a matching footstool and table after the holidays.
